wow! it's been a good while since i've done a high 5 for friday post! since i'm getting back into the swing of blogging and hopefully gonna stick with it for good, i wanted to do one of these posts (they're always good for me to reflect on the week & find 5 things that were a blessing, fun, etc)!

so, i'm linking up with lauren to bring you my top 5's of the week!

5. holden has been pretty sick all week (don't worry that's not a peak of my week!), but because of him not feeling well, we have been major homebodies. sometimes, weeks like this drive me crazy and sometimes, they come at just the right time and i am beyond grateful! this week, it was a blessing! i think h is finally feeling better this am (after a fun diarrhea and vomiting fun-filled night wed night), and we are all just hoping his fun little bug doesn't feel the need to take grant or i down too! here's some sweet moments h & i have had this week!

4. i am just a few days shy of 4 mos pregnant and will feel so accomplished when i make it to that milestone! i definitely feel like my belly is pooching much quicker than with holden. it feels silly to me to need maternity shirts already and i haven't been able to bring myself to wear a shirt with cinching on the side already, but my normal shirts are definitely riding up in the front and it's starting to become an issue!

3. the house we currently live in had a requirement of living in it for a year (which we hit just before christmas), so the hunt is on for our next reno house. i'm definitely not as nervous this time since we have one under our belts (and grant has done several with my FIL and BIL), but it's still nerve-wracking!!! anyways, we submitted an offer on another government-owned home and are hoping for the best (last time, i think we put offers on 4-6 homes before we got an accepted offer at the price we wanted to pay)! this home is 500 sq ft larger than our current home, so it would be an amazing step up in the world, but definitely not our dream home! fingers crossed!

2. I don't know about you, but something I'm super pumped for is how full my dvr is gonna be come sunday night!!! first, it's sean & catherine's bachelor wedding, then it's the grammy's and there's also a new kardashian's on! my sweet hub might just have to leave me in peace do I can take over the tv allll nighhhht lonnnnng! hey, it's been football game after football game every sunday for weeks on end!

1. I've been doing quite a lot of online shopping lately (mostly old navy since they sell maternity online, but not in stores). so, pretty much every day for the last week, we've gotten at least one package and it feels like christmas! i order almost everything in 2 sizes to ensure one of them will work & just take back all the extras! ptl for fedex & ups these days! just sayin! >no pic needed... just imagine an entryway full of boxes!<

hey hey! it's friday already again?? today, we have already gone for an almost 3 mile walk and i must say... whoever said that exercising gives you more energy was a liar. anyone else feel like a lazy bum after exercising?? whatever. my best friend is getting married in literally A WEEK and i couldn't be more excited!!! so, my biggest high 5 for this week is that we are going to florida and seeing all of our favs! next week will be full of high 5's! but, since it's still this week... here's my high 5's for this past week! :)

5) praise to whom all blessing flow, my friends! holden has been sleeping in til around 9:30 consistently lately. and it. is. glorious! well... if you don't count that one random day that he got up at 6 something! eeek. that was awful. but, i'm loving the late mornings!!!

4) some of you may not understand how beautiful this sight is, but when you live in a fairly good sized town that pretends to be a small town... us ladies long for things of the big city! like a sephora!!! it's just going to be one of the smaller sephoras inside of jc penney's instead of an independent store, but i'll take it! and would be overjoyed if we got an ulta, too... yes, please!

3) if you know me at all, you know that i surely do not have a green thumb. not in the slightest! so, the fact that i have been a slacker as of late watering my plants and my hydrangea plants look better than ever is a miracle!!!

2) h and i have had lots of quality time this week since grant has been pretty swamped w getting projects finished up before our trip. yesterday, we ventured out to get him a nice new do for florida! his fav part: suckers. 

1) oh, and i got my hair did, too! ptl! just got my roots touched up since i don't want to regret having roots that i see in wedding pictures for the rest of my life. necessary for sure.

it's nap time which means i actually have time to write my high 5 for friday post! and what a big high 5 today deserves! holden has been more than a handful this week and pairing that with the fact that my hubs has been working nonstop, it's been a doozy of a week! (note that having a hubby that's incredibly busy is a BLESSING, but it's an exhausting blessing!) so, without further ado, here's my top 5's of the week!

5) h & i strolled the mall a couple times this week and of course we couldn't make it out without riding his fav cars at least once. he was so good, though, that a reward was definitely in order!

4) grant & i attended lafayette's chamber of commerce dinner on wednesday night. david boudia (aka USA olympic gold medalist in diving) was the keynote speaker. he's an inspiration and one of the most humble guys you will ever meet! the food was sub par, but the company made up for it!

3) tis the season for 'leaves' candles, my friends! leaves is my all-time fav scent. i have it in my car, in my plug-ins, in candles. it's the best! head to bath and body works today to get your hands nose on this goodness!

2) i finally bit the bullet and signed up for birchbox! i wasn't sure if i'd be a fan cause i absolutely hate having a million travel size products. they clutter my bathroom, i always forget to use them and then i find them 2 years later and they are gross. sad, but true. so, i got my first box and i'd say that i'll give it another month, but so far, i'm not sold. i got the nastiest green nail polish and some lip balm that has nipple in the title... gross. i am excited, however, about trying the eyeko mascara!

1) and last, but certainly not least... all my friends are having babies!!! there's definitely a boom going on around these parts and another two of my friends welcomed their little ones yesterday! alexandra & judah, i can't wait to love on you & watch you grow! here's alex just hours after she arrived & of course she's dolled up w a bow! alex is the littlest lady of my friend, erica. please go check out her blog & read her story--i promise you'll be touched by how faithful the lord is!

hey all! happy friday!! i feel like sometimes as a mom, it's a major accomplishment to make it to friday (even though friday's don't mean staying up late and sleeping in anymore!). and... especially for a wife of a self-employed man, friday's don't really mean that daddy's off for the weekend! oh well... friday still feels like a victory! here's my top 5 moments of the week in no particular order! linking up with lauren & jeanett!

5. i've recently gotten back into pinterest. for awhile, i felt like i kept seeing all the same pins and it was annoying that i barely got on. plus, i definitely went through a phase where pinterest made me feel like i needed a new wardrobe, a bigger/nicer house, cooking lessons and new hair. anybody with me?? i've thankfully realized that was all untrue and am back on the pinterest train! saw this pin the other night and seriously laughed out loud for a long while. dearest holden, this better be the case or you're gonna be grounded for life. --follow me on pinterest--

4. praise to all that is good & holy. i live for this kind of weather, folks!!! last night, i walked outside with my in-laws and it was cooler and breezy and i 100% said "and THIS is why we moved to indiana!!!". florida life was not for this midwestern girl!

3. my parents were here visiting this past weekend. love when they come to town!! it still feels like a dream to me that they are actually picking up and moving to indiana from my hometown in minnesota, but my heart is bursting w joy! we spent lots of time while they were here looking at spec homes of different builders trying to perfect a layout and all that jazz.



2. grant's cousins moved to lafayette about 8 months ago from south carolina and it's been so fun spending time w abby! she's a mama to 3 boys and deserved a girl's night out for her bday! we went to one of my latest fav restaurants downtown, red7. they brought out a delish cake w a huge sparkler in it!

1. oh, this sweet boy. he's so good to me. love being his mama and the sweet moments we share. i wish every mama that wanted to stay home w their littles had the opportunity. slow & quite mornings are the name of our game. jammies til noon, coffee & puzzles, long walks. i dreamed of being a mom for so long and always prayed i'd get to stay home. grateful for a husband that makes that possible!

don't mind the fact that i had this whole post written and forgot to publish it... this week has been a little strange not gonna lie!! I've been sick off & on for part of the week, there were plenty of fun things we did, but i forgot to take pics every time & now my parents are here visiting!! here's my highlights from the week!

5. i've been a faithful bucks girl for quite some time, but the whole card reward system confused the heck out of me until a couple months ago when a friend broke it down for me! and it truly is simple!! i'm soooo close to free drinks & goodies, i can almost taste it!!!

4. in other exciting news... i'm jumping on the bandwagon and am signing up for birchbox! i love finding new products that i wouldn't have normally picked up or tried and this is a great & cheap way to do that!! plus, who doesn't love getting packages?!?

3. my hub took me to outback a couple nights ago! to say that he is obsessed w outback would be a severe understatement, but i really like it too! win-win! green beans, broccoli & a medium grilled steak... get in my belly!!!!

2. i bought holden a used bubble lawnmower on our local fb group (kind of like a garage sale online... and then you meet up in a parking lot somewhere & feel like a drug dealer...). ha! i haven't put the bubbles in it yet, but he's bound to love this thing even more!! and for only $2!!!

1. last, but not least, we celebrated mg lil niecey's 3rd bday on sunday!! she doesn't technically turn 3 til this weekend, but we as fam in town and it just made sense! love that hyper, opinionated, smart & curious little girl!!!

we are in sickville over here! so, our week was full of cuddles, cartoons, lack of sleep and tissue piles. fun, right?? gotta just keep it real! in fact... i just saw this on good ol pinterest and it couldn't explain my feelings better in this very moment!!

having a sick babe is exhausting in and of itself (hello, holden didn't nap all day yesterday and didn't go to bed til 10:30pm)... but i'm actually sick, too. so, although the extra snugs have been nice, what i've really wanted is to take a nap by myself!!!

anywho, hope you all have had a great week!! we are currently sitting in the dr's office waiting room to make sure what h has isn't more serious. good thing the waiting room has fishies! he's in heaven!!

i'm about 99% convinced it's allergies, so that means we can both expect to be down for the count at the end of august every year. ugh!!!!

happy friday, friends! we are up and at em this morning. well... technically i got up and at em (aka showered & ready for the day), but now that holden is up, we are being lazy bums on the couch watching luke bryan on the today show! i had big plans of getting out of the house early to get a head start on my long list of errands to run, but that didn't quite happen... oh well! we've had a fun week of qt and laughs! still loving holden's age so much!!! here's my top 5's of the week! what are yours?? make sure to link up w me, lauren & jeannett!  

5. remember how i mentioned here that i was starting the c25k program?? well... things were all fine & dandy until the curse of shin splints took over my life. for real! they finally subsided a couple day ago, so i've started hitting the pavement again!

4. we met a friend and her son at the park and local zoo this week. love that we have a cute local zoo that has goats, otters, emus, monkeys etc. they also have a cute train that takes you around the park for like a 10-15 min ride! it's not huge, but it's nice and close and is free! 

3. i've really been making a point to study and get into the word the last few wks. and i can say that it 100% changes my attitude and mood when i set this as a priority in my day. one day this week, i decided to have my breakfast & coffee on the patio w some worship music playing. birds chirping, no toddler needing me... it was bliss! 

2. now that mops is getting into full swing, we have meetings every tuesday (since i'm on the leadership team). after our meeting this week, we decided to go to chick fil a! besides it being noon and sheer chaos, we got to eat as a group and the kids got to play. we were def outnumbered by our kiddos, so i didn't get any pics, but i did snag this quick one of h! he's getting braver in the play place...

1. i have been loving the weather here in indiana this summer. we have lots of hot days and nights, but it's been overall pretty cool. as in, it's currently in the high 60's-low 70's here right now. in august. crazy! anyways, with good weather comes good non-frizzy hair days. ptl. and being able to dress cute and not be a sweaty mess. amen! i debuted my somervell necklace yesterday! I've had it for awhile and was waiting til it felt right w an outfit. and a fun shirt w bicycles on it just felt right!

rather than my typical high 5 for friday post, i'm just gonna post about why i'm thankful it's friday! holden & i have had a pretty lazy week full of snuggling, some shopping and lots of down time at home. i'm grateful for weeks like this. we really just took it slow most of the week! grant has had a TON of projects to edit, client meetings, photo & video shoots and the last couple days he has attended an event at our church. all of that means long days for this mama! im grateful, like i said, but on weeks like this, i'm tired by 4 if we run around town like normal!

so, I'm thankful that it's friday because...

-holden & i had a lot of sweet moments at home. just the two of us!

- tomorrow is my bday and we have some fun stuff planned this weekend to celebrate!

-a dear friend of mine who is pregnant has had a hard week w signs of really early labor. i'm taking her back to the dr this morning to hopefully get news that the contractions have slowed. (prayers welcome!)

-being lazy & acting like he owns the place!-

i've got a list of errands to run and a bathroom that wants me to clean it (really, it told me!), but none of that matters when it's your birthday week! am i right or am i right??? :)

it's friday, it's friday, hey hey hey hey!!! and this friday is extra exciting because i get to go on a date to indianapolis tonight!!! this week hasn't been full of exciting events, but it has been full of sweet moments with my boy. i think the chart topper was last night when he was eating a post-county fair dinner (read: veggies & fruit) and he kept saying 'pray'. i didn't quite get what he was trying to say until he folded his hands. i nearly started bawling. moments like this remind me how important raising children is and how vital starting young w stuff like praying w them is! there's a super cute video on my instagram (user name: mistythompson)!

ok! here's my 5 moments of the week that i loved!!

5. on monday night, i drove down to indianapolis for a meeting w all of the stella & dot stylists in our area. since i'm the only stylist in lafayette, i'm teamed up w a group of girls in indy. there were about 30-35 of us that met! here's a pic of a couple girls sharing what they learned/took away from the yearly stylist conference that was in vegas last week!

4. speaking of stella & dot, i ordered some of my new fall samples this week & the happy lil package made my day when it arrived (as in i literally put both of my hands up in the air in a touchdown position and said 'yesss'!)! these beauties are sheer perfection!

3. i started running this week. well, i don't know if i can technically call it running, but i've started nonetheless. i downloaded the c25k (couch to 5k) app awhile ago and then i hurt my foot really bad and never did anything w it. this week, i got a healthy dose of motivation and just started. i've done two days so far. i feel quite pathetic that 30 min of alternating walking/jogging/running can leave me almost dead on the sidewalk, but it does. i just keep thinking of something i see randomly on pinterest that says 'even if you're walking, you're still lapping everyone on the couch'. it's true and every little bit counts! especially the bit where i bought new cute workout clothes. now i'm invested!!!! ha

2. like i mentioned, our county fair is going on right now. we don't usually get too into the fair, but we do go just once to eat some fair food and look at the animals. holden had a healthy balance of super excited to see the animals & scared out of his mind. i think the bunnies were his fav!

1. honestly, like i said, there weren't any life-changing events this week for us, but lots of little moments that just make me grateful. love my boy abundantly & so proud to be his mama!

hey hey! first of all... where did this entire week go??? i mean, really. it flew by. we had a good week over here in thompsonland. busy, for sure, but mostly busy with things i like and don't mind being busy with. today, I'm linking up with lauren (as usual) and jeannett (for the first time)! linking up is a fun way to connect w other bloggers and i love doing the high five for friday post! so, let's dive right in!!

5. grant's parents just closed aon the house that they've owned for nearly 16 years. it was a bittersweet day. lots of good memories at that house. i visited grant there before we ever started dating & then spent time there after we started dating to get to know the fam. and then when we moved across the country, we lived with grant's parents for a year in that house. it's crazy to think that it's no longer "ours". we had a fun picnic and pool party one last time! :(

4. yesterday, holden & i met some mops friends at the pool! to say that water isn't his favorite thing is an understatement. asin, last time we went to this pool (a few weeks ago), he practically was clawing my neck hanging on because he was so scared. i'm thinking he is getting used to it, but it didn't hurt that his lil lady friend, emmy, is a daredevil and she was there, too! :) we shared a small twist cone afterwards! ah... summer!!!

3. i had my first *official* stella & dot trunk show on monday!!!! it was fun & nerve-racking all at the same time! my good friend was the hostess, so that helped, but it still takes some getting used to! here's to many more (i hope-haha!)! this is me on the way out the door! obsessed w fun color combos-- such as magenta & kelly green! to die! the earrings are stella & dot (of course!) and the come in multiple sizes and multiple colors... and i want every single one!!

2. this week, we had some friends pass through town that we haven't seen for literally 4 or 5 years! i met them at our other dear friends' wedding 6 years ago & hit it off with amy! both of our men were groomsmen, so we got to know each other at the rehearsal and just connected! when i heard they were passing through town and wanted to get together, i was so excited!! i only have ONE pic from the whole night because dinner was a disaster... 6 adults, 4 tired & crazy kids... no fun! we did hang out afterwards, though, and the babes were fine since they could get down & run! three of the four kids are 18 mos, 19 mos & 20 mos! phew! and all boys!!! george, ben & holden had a blast together! 

1. i honestly wasn't quite sure i'd ever see the day come where holden didn't have a paci. he's had one & only paci since he took to this specific one when he was 1 week old. we got it as a gift (tied to a diaper cake) before he was born & i seriously have looked so hard to find another one like it... assuming they've discontinued it. anyways, a week ago, holden bit a hole in his paci and it's just been getting bigger & bigger. so, yesterday, when i felt like it was posing a potential choking hazard, we said goodbye to the yellow paci!!! i had to rock him to sleep for his nap and then again at night, but this is a HUGE adjustment (and i haven't rocked him to sleep since he was like 3 months old!!)! here's to a better day sans paci (aka no crying for an hour before i rock him)!
